Railsday 2006 is over

railsday logo
Railsday is over and I had no sleep for the last 20 hours! But we (Trung and me) managed to create something and commit the stuff just in time. Rails is/was a contest where we had 24 hours time to create an web application based on the fantastic framework Ruby on Rails. There was a lot of Apple stuff to win and damn I wish we won. Our submission called Cockpit is a virtual desktop manager inside a browser where one can load any external site in a new small (resizeable) windows. Just in case one wants to keep an eye on some sites at the same time.

macbook-front
Well not really. I orderd a Macbook (I know - first revision Apple mobiles allways suck - but I am brave) together with Trung and Hendry. The arrival is slated for the 22.06.2006. Don’t try to contact me on that day :)

Yubnub

Yubnub
Found this interesting thing. It was the Railsday 2005 winner. It is a social commandline for the web. Anybody can create custom commands that achieve something that needs some parameters. Take the command “gim” for example. You can type “gim porsche 911″. The command gim takes a name as parameter and searches for “porsche 911″ pictures. Easy huh? There are allready more than 11 thousand custom commands. And you can create ones yourself. There are also Mac/Linux/Windows frontends for yubnub, firefox extensions and so on.

Mac Mini

Friday, May 12th, 2006

macmini-front The new Mac Mini arrived! Yay! The good news are that it feels much faster than the old Mac Mini and it has Frontrow. Mind you there are also bad news… I didn’t have much time lately - only switched it on for three times. The first time Safari crashed. The second time Mail crashed. And now i had a complete freeze (bad memory access) :/
There are some other annoyances… Azureus does not work with the Intel Mini, Windowdragon uses Unsanity’s Application Enhancer (wich isn’t UB now), Virtue lacks a pager (that’s why I am using Desktop Manager now) and somewhere else children are starving to death. It’s all about perspectives.
